Opal earrings
Description
Verdura , Cartier, Belperron, and all the major and minor jewelers of the 20th Century have made a version of the Lilly of The Valley. Here is my very simple, modernized addition to that tradition and conversation. The white opal bells are hand-carved in Germany.. they are mounted on a solid square hammered 18k gold 'stem' that create a graphic modern arch about the face. The Lily of The Valley is beloved because of it's transience I think; it appears for a short time in profusion with overwhelming perfume and then, poof, they are all gone till next year. In the Middle Ages and then again in the 19th century it stood for purity and for luck in love. We can all use a little purity and lot of love. The only question remains shall I make a pin?
